On Climate Change

I exited the left/right game a long time ago.

It became clear to me neither the left nor the right’s political philosophy was rooted in the Word of God.

Consequently, here I have always attempted to approach political issues from a different perspective.

I would mention though that before exiting the left/right game I was definitely a right-winger. I only mention this because I’m confident if I offend any by this post, it will be my friends on the right.

I don’t know much about climate change. I’m not a meteorogist. I don’t even watch the local weather on television. But like most people, I have an opinion.

First, I have to start with the acknowledgement that I do not know which group of scientists is correct. How silly would it be for me to even venture an opinion? What appears undeniable though is that well-trained, intelligent, and reasonable scientists differ on whether global warming is occurring and whether it poses a threat to the planet. And that is all I need to know.

As a Kingdom man, I believe the kingdom of God will ultimately prevail on the earth.  I believe the wheat, not the tares, will inherit the earth. See Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. It is Christians then who have the vested interest in preserving the planet.

If both sides could be right, then we must ask what is at stake in choosing wrongly. If we follow the advice of those who advocate for climate change and they are wrong, then we will have made a number of products and services more expensive through added regulations. However, if we choose to believe climate-change deniers and they are wrong, we risk the future of the planet. That should settle it.

I don’t think people generally come to an opinion on the issue of climate change based on the evidence but on left/right party affiliation. As Kingdom citizens, we should not approach such issues from inside the left/right paradigm but from inside the Kingdom. GS

  1. As a engineer / scientist myself, I find myself in agreement with the climate scientists and data showing sea levels to be on the rise.

As a Christian, I see that rose as a fulfillment of the tribulations that the earth must go through in the fulness of time…what the Bible predicts is to come… Why just yesterday my daily reading included this verse from Luke 21… how timely….

25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
