If you are a follower of this blog, I owe you an explanation.
I’ve not posted since June 30, 2013, which is the longest period without a post since I started this blog in May 2010.
The last three weeks have been a remarkable, busy, and exciting time where my wife and I have seen the Lord answer big prayers and move in big ways.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, we felt we were being led to move downtown. For the past 7 months we have been looking for the right place downtown. We found nothing. I mean nothing.
As the time began to run out on my office lease, which was the deadline for our move, we began looking for office space downtown for my law firm and preparing our house to sell. While looking for office space to lease, I came across a remarkable building, one like none other I have ever seen, and the crazy idea of buying it crossed my mind. Not that we could afford it. It was really just a fanciful dream.
But as my wife and I prayed about it, we felt the Lord wanted us to pursue it. It didn’t make sense because we couldn’t afford it. We were just looking for a place to lease for 3-5 years for my law firm, and we were looking for a condo in a downtown high-rise to live. For grins I wrote down the 3 things that had to happen for us to be able to afford the building. When I wrote them down, they seemed unattainable, but when I prayed, I kept getting a green light.
These 3 things were 1) to sell our house for a certain amount of money within 30 days; 2) to get in a certain amount of money at my law practice within 60 days–more money than I’d ever made in 60 days, by the way; and 3) the owner of the building we wanted to buy would need to substantially lower his asking price.
On July 1, 2013, we officially listed our house. On July 2, 2013, we received an offer for $5,000 more than we were asking. We have since signed the contract and are closing in a few weeks. In the meantime, I have been praying for that specific amount of money to come in at work and working furiously, crazy hours, as if the Lord might actually answer the prayer (which is why I’ve not had time to blog). Almost immediately, I got 1/4th of the way there when a case unexpectedly settled early. A few weeks later I was half-way there when another case settled. But I wasn’t sure from where the rest of the money could come.
