A few days ago, I blogged on 10 things God hates. Thanks to Jesse for a comment in response to that blog suggesting I blog on things 10 God loves.
One way you can become more like Jesus is by hating the things He hates and loving the things He loves. The more you know about someone’s likes and dislikes the better you will know them.
As you go through the lists in these two blogs, consider why God hates what He hates and loves what He loves.
Here are 10 things God loves, in no particular order:
1. A cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7. (A good reason to give: “Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”. 10 Things God Loves.)
2. The world. John 3:16. (Interesting that so many Christians are trying to escape the planet the Lord loves and wants to transform: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life”. 10 Things God Loves).
3. Justice. Psalm 11:7, Psalm 37:28. (One of the reasons I’m proud to be a trial lawyer: “For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.” and “For the Lord loves justice and does not abandon His godly ones; They are protected forever, But the descendants of the wicked will be eliminated.”).
4. The righteous. Psalm 146:8 (A good reason to pursue holiness: “The Lord opens the eyes of those who are blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous”).
5. Christians. I John 4:15-16; John 16:27. (“ Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.” and “for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.”)
6. Non-Christians. I John 4:10-11, Romans 5:8. (“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” and ” But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”. Surprised?)
7. Those who love Him. Deuteronomy 7:9. (Who doesn’t love those who love them? “Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who love Him and keep His commandments”).
8. Those who obey His commands. Deuteronomy 7:9 (Another reason to be obedient: “Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who love Him and keep His commandments”.).
9. Those who pursue godliness. Proverbs 15:9. (“The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves the one who pursues righteousness.” See #4).
10. Those who fear Him. Psalm 103:11. (Respect matters: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.”).

Thanks. I’m glad you found it helpful,
It’s good, but you have misinterpreted the verses for number six. It’s just a thought (uninformed by anything else than suspicion) from a brother to a brother, that you possibly read your SOTERIOLOGY into the text. Both texts are spoken to believers, the “we” and “us” in both refer to the Church.
Good point. I perceive that you are a Calvinist. Still, in this verse he is talking about having died for us before we were saved. Is he not?
